The last few months, I've been under contract with Capstrat, where I've had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that range from something as small as a Flash banner ad to as large as creating site templates for large-scale Django projects. Each of the projects I've had the opportunity to work on have had different challenges and because of this, I've been able to walk away from each one a little bit smarter and a little bit better at my craft.

Because I do not own the copyrights to these projects, examples of my work at Capstrat are only available by request. I've set up a pretty easy way to view these projects, so if interested, don't feel bad asking.

For my capstone project, I worked with a Philadelphia, PA based band, Phantasm, to develop them a new site that was easily updatable. Because of the variance in content for a project like this, I sought a CMS that offered a lot of functionality (Drupal), and then subsequently learned how to use Drupal and built the site.

To set the site apart from the pages of other bands, I sought to introduce two interactive components that are not often seen on band websites: a coverflow-esqe interactive discography and an interactive timeline.

A group consisting of myself and six others were sent to Colón, Panamá to gather content to create an online presence for a non-profit organization, the Club de Ciegos de Colón, that benefits the visually impaired.

Our goal was to build a website that suited our client's needs. One particular issue we faced was building a site that was accessible to our clients — every member of the organization was visually impaired — yet still pleasing to outside visitors.

In this project, I worked with a group of three others to create a new web presence for a local restaurant.

For this particular project, I was responsible for taking Photoshop mockups created by a colleague and implementing them in HTML. In addition, I was responsible for taking some of the ideas for interactions that we had, deciding which to actually use, and then implementing them.

Beers of Southern Tier Brewing

This project was created as a Final Exam for my Visual Aesthetics class. We were tasked with creating something that represented what we had learned and I choose to represent the characteristics of some brews from one of my favorite breweries.

Something that was important with this project was matching the design that Southern Tier uses in their own packaging/advertising and I made sure to use a font that they use frequently in their own work so things could match in the event this developed further.

For this project in my Visual Aesthetics class, I was tasked with creating an interactive infographic. At the time, the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle was fresh on my mind because it had recently been introduced to the county my parents lived in.

With this graphic, I aimed to create something that was visually pleasing, managed to convey data in a useful manner and was interactive. All data was sourced from the Forest Departments of the individual states.

With this project, I was tasked with creating a site that could compare crime in my hometown with crime nationwide.

One thing I picked up during my undergraduate studies was a love of statistics (specifically, demographics) and some skills on how to best represent these statistics in a manner that was both readable and allowed comparison between my home municipality and the entire nation. I was anxious to try out the Google graphing APIs and this worked out perfectly with how I wanted to represent the data.

For my Contemporary Media Issues class, we were asked to research a topic that was relevant to today's media and was interesting to us and I choose Net Neutrality.

We were asked to do research on the topic and create an interactive component that explored the topic.

In my Producing Interactive Media class, we were tasked with creating a Flash game.

For this game, I used multiple random number generators to create a game we used to play in my high school lunch period (the administration didn't like that much). In addition, I manipulated the gameplay to create three difficulty levels. Try to not let the computer take all your money.
